the charities
The two Charities which GABIT supports through our Events are a hugely important part of what we do and why we do it and they are both very close to our hearts.

We are delighted to be supporting Amanda's new Foundation Sanctuary for Kids, which is a not for profit foundation, launched in November 2009 by Amanda, Damian Kindler and Jill Bodie. It which supports international and local charities that provide vital aid to children and youth in crisis. It receives online donations and will provide access to auction items from Sanctuary to raise those funds.
GABIT started fundraising for “Sanctuary for Kids” at our AT4 Event in November 2009, where we raised over £16,000 for them. We intend to raise even more for them through our “Sanctuary Experience” event this summer in Vancouver and again at AT5 because “Sanctuary for Kids” will always be a part of fundraising at Amanda’s Events with GABIT.
Gabit Events Ltd guarantees that Sanctuary for Kids will receive 100% of all revenues donated to them at our events, and 100% of all monies taken at the Charity auction and/or via raffles. Gabit Events does not take any Charity proceeds for administration costs or other costs whatsoever.

We started supporting “Hearing Dogs for Deaf People” in 2005, a small Charity which stole ours and Amanda’s hearts. We now have a stupendous 10 GABIT dogs in the kennel, each changing the life of a deaf person, and our relationship with the Hearing Dogs people has grown and been cemented over the past five years. Hearing Dogs will always be a part of fundraising at Amanda’s AT Events and we look forward to adding to the kennel at each Event.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity which selects and trains dogs to respond to specific sounds which hearing people often take for granted, such as the alarm clock, doorbell, baby cry, telephone and smoke alarm.
Instead of barking, the dogs alert the deaf person by touch, using a paw to gain attention and then lead them back to the sound source. For sounds such as the smoke alarm and fire alarm, the dogs will lie down to indicate danger.
We are especially thrilled that the very tiny puppy which Amanda fell in love with at AT1 - Iris - and who is featured in many of the photos of Amanda from that Event and also AT2 when Iris was bigger - is now a fully trained Hearing Dog and is one of the GABIT sponsored dogs, along with her brother Ives. Iris paid a special visit to us at AT4 and her owner gave a moving speech of thanks to Amanda and the fans for sponsoring Iris. It is quite simply the generosity of you, Amanda's loyal fans, who have made this all possible and so from the bottom of our hearts, we humbly thank all of you for your generosity and love as these ten dogs go on to change ten deaf peoples’ lives forever.
Amanda said it herself – her fans are quite simply the best fans in the world and you are!
